  12.     In two weeks I plan to purchase a fast windows nt system.  I
  13. have my eye on a micron pentium 120 with 64 megs edo ram, 17" .26
  14. monitor, 2 gigs system, 18 gigs for the perception (hopefully when
  15. it comes out in two weeks), all fast and I think wide scsi, and other
  16. trinkets like a 6x drive, etc.  The system price is about $7300
  17. with nt.  My question is, should I consider buying an alpha, if
  18. there are any in the same price range?  Will windows programs,
  19. like adobe premier, in:sync's razor pro, and other pc 16 bit
  20. applications run on nt in an alpha?  I want the fastest machine
  21. for the money, I want to cut down on 3d and 2d renders.  Or
  22. should I consider a dual pentium with the old neptune chipset,
  23. even though many of the programs I'll be dealing with don't have
  24. the ability to multithread (I think).  This is a big investment
  25. for me, so I would be forever greatfull.  In case it helps, I'll
  26. be using the dps perception as the center of a nonlinear edit
  27. suite, and I'll be doing animations as well.  I'll be using
  28. premiere, razor pro, and maybe the new dvision when it comes out.
